At the End of the Final Line

Patrick J. Campbell

History

This is one of very few books about the actual construction and manufacturing of aircraft. In 1912, the Canadian Vickers Shipyard is established in Montreal on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. In 1920, it is declared perfect for assembling seaplanes, and later land planes. When a new plant is built in St, Laurent, land-based aircraft construction continues until 1984 under the Canadair name.

There are many full-page photographs to complement descriptions of the aircraft. This is a very readable story of a bit of Canadian aviation history.

"I believe that Patrick Campbell is uniquely qualified to write this story which I hope might serve to inspire a new generation with its examples of world-class Canadian ingenuity, skills and workmanship." --Jack Anderson, from the Foreword
